Unit One: Thinking Like a GeographerIn this unit, students explore the basics of geography. Students discover the differences between human and physical geography. An eBook kick-starts an ongoing study of culture around the world, which is a major component of human geography. Students then study the 7 traits of culture and use these traits to compare world cultures in a group jigsaw activity. Students show what they know by creating posters on which their personal cultures are defined. To wrap the unit up, students examine physical geography by studying the earth's physical features and practicing map skills.
